Jungian Based Psychotherapy
"My main task is not to 'fix' you, but to
provide a therapeutic relationship where your Self, human and imperfect is seen,
heard, and valued.”
I am a skilled therapist. I know how to balance artful listening with guidance,
gentle pushes to go deeper, and empathic silence. I believe that change occurs
best in an authentic
client-therapist relationship.
I have found that the quality of the
therapeutic relationship is what contributes to improvements in therapy. I
create a safe and caring environment where you will have opportunity to freely
explore and express your Self.
Although I use Jungian theory, connecting with my client is far more important
than any technique or model used. Jungian psychotherapy aims at relating your
conscious self with your unconscious Self so that you can live life more fully
as the individual that you are truly meant to be. The principal psychological
task, therefore, is to become reconnected to your Self from which you have
become separated because of your own personal history and societal pressures.
Jungian psychotherapy works well with individuals who are:
- Experiencing a life transition
- Learning how to live well with a chronic illness/autoimmune
disease
- Struggling with anxiety/depression
- Fighting to "exist"/break free from the
effects of being raised by Self absorbed parent(s)
- Dealing with childhood trauma or PTSD
- Surrendering to an addiction/eating
disorder
- Confronting a family estrangement/"rift"
- Overwhelmed with grief and loss
Because it is the language of art, poetry,
imagination, myth, and spirituality that comes closest to describing the power
and mystery of the Self, our work together may make use of:
- Art therapy
- Journal writing
- Dream-work
- Meditation
Our work together will definitely involve a safe
place where you will be heard, acknowledged, and validated
